I-85 SSI Progress Meeting
At the May 20th progress meeting, CDM Smith representative Bill Mason led with team updates and formally introduced Greg Hoch as the new Resident Project Representative (RPR) for Construction Package 1 (CP1) of the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project. Jackie Jackson, the initial RPR for CP1, will transition to support Construction Package 2 (CP2) as the RPR once that phase begins.

Managing Phosphorus for Better Water Quality
SGWASA has worked collaboratively with Enviromix over the past several years to evaluate and improve key water and wastewater treatment technologies. This partnership included a case study at the SGWASA Wastewater Treatment Plant that focused on Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR). This process has been shown to target phosphorus more efficiently.

Repairs Scheduled for Monday on East Lyon Station Road
Utility crews scheduled water main repairs for Monday along East Lyon Station Road, between West Middleton Drive and Massimo Drive. The work follows a recently reported leak in the area, and timely repairs are necessary to maintain system reliability and prevent further issues.

Planned Service Notice
As part of an NCDOT project on Highway 56, a contractor will be performing a water main relocation in two locations along West Lyon Station Road. This work is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, and is expected to take approximately 4 to 6 hours to complete.

Billing System Upgrade Â
Launching with the April 20th SGWASA bill, the Authority is transitioning to an enhanced billing platform to better serve our customers. The new system offers improved account access and payment features. This system upgrade project is being implemented in partnership with Tyler Technologies, a leading provider of utility billing solutions.
