PFAS Intent to Fund Notice
In March 2026, SGWASA received notice that the North Carolina State Water Infrastructure Authority approved $10,658,880 in additional funding assistance for SGWASA’s drinking water projects. The award is expected to include a combination of loan and grant funding administered through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure.

April 27th Will Suitt Road Closure
A closure on Will Suitt Road is scheduled to beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, as Construction Package 2 (CP-2) of the I-85 SSI Project progress. The closure is expected to begin that morning around 7:00 am and remain in place through the posted work period.

No Mandatory Water Restrictions in Effect for Lake Holt Water Supply
Stage 1 Voluntary Conservation measures are not triggered unless usable water storage falls below 60 percent. Current conditions remain well above that threshold and indicate a stable water supply.

Guidance on Private Wells and Septic Systems
SGWASA recently received questions on public service and the process to install a private well or septic system. In general, properties within SGWASA’s service area are required to remain connected to public water when a public water line is accessible, and to remain connected to public sewer when public sewer is available to the property.

Penny Shortage Update
Butner, NC. March 3, 2026 - SGWASA is currently experiencing a temporary operational impact related to a local penny shortage. Local banking partners have not been able to supply pennies at this time, which means SGWASA is unable to provide exact change for cash transactions at the point of payment. Until this issue is resolved, customers who pay with cash must provide exact change, or they may choose to pay slightly more than the billed amount. Any overpayment will be applie

Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing
