Two Week Look Ahead: Closures and Pavement Work
Butner, NC - The I-85 SSI Project is moving into the next sequence of field activity as crews transition from Railroad Avenue toward A Street and prepare for upcoming work near 8th and C streets.
Park Construction is transitioning work to A Street, continuing pipe installation from Mount Hope toward B Street. If blasting operations continue successfully this week, crews plan to move to 8th Street by the middle of next week. Based on that anticipated plan, C Street is expected to close beginning September 15, 2026. Both 8th Street and C Street will face intermittent closures for blasting and pipe-laying operations.
The Norfolk Southern Railroad bore pit excavation has begun, marking another important preparation step for upcoming trenchless construction.
Park Construction crews are planning limited project work this Saturday, including pre-vacuum testing of manholes and shoulder cleanup following recent paving activity along Railroad Avenue.
Joe Peed Road work remains active, with planned gravity sewer and 20-inch force main work continuing. Motorists should expect traffic controls, including flagging and lane closures as needed near the Joe Peed work area.
Customers and motorists are asked to remain attentive near active work areas, follow posted traffic guidance, and allow additional travel time where closures or traffic controls are in place.
