Penny Shortage Update
Butner, NC. March 3, 2026 - SGWASA is currently experiencing a temporary operational impact related to a local penny shortage. Local banking partners have not been able to supply pennies at this time, which means SGWASA is unable to provide exact change for cash transactions at the point of payment. Water Main Breaks - C & 11th Streets in Butner
Crews are responding to a water main break reported near West C Street and 11th Street in Butner, NC. Repairs are underway, and we are in the process of temporarily shutting off water service on West C Street from 5th Street to 11th Street to complete the work.

Residents within the I-85 SSI Project construction corridor may receive a Pre-Blast Survey notification letter from Park Construction. This notice is being provided because rock removal may be required as work progresses, and your property may be located within the project’s standard survey radius for potential blasting activities.

CP1 & CP2 Project Progress
As the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project continues to progress, work remains focused on completing foundation duties for the valve and electrical building and continuing installation of the pressurized sewer piping toward the flow meter vault, with the next phase transitioning into electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work and preparation for the concrete slab.

January 2026 Board Meeting
SGWASA remains focused on proactive, data-driven improvements that protect water quality, strengthen system reliability, and position the Authority to meet evolving regulatory expectations. During the most recent Board meeting, several active water-quality initiatives were reviewed, including PFAS treatment planning, treatment plant filter improvements, and targeted distribution system flushing strategies.

Creedmoor - Water Meter Replacement Program
The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority is partnering with Vanguard Utility Service Inc. to complete a systemwide meter replacement initiative within the City of Creedmoor. This multi-phase project is expected to take approximately eight months and will replace older-style water meters at eligible service locations.
The project is scheduled to begin January 20th – 23rd , daily during the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Ferbow Street in Creedmoor, NC.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing
South Granville Water & Sewer Authority will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Normal business operations will resume on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 during normal business hours.
