Unidirectional Flushing (UDF) Program
$45,000
Budget:
This program is intended to support a more structured and proactive approach to system flushing. The work will help SGWASA evaluate operational methods for improving water quality maintenance, managing sediment and residual conditions, and strengthening long-term distribution system practices.
Current Project Report Summary
SGWASA’s March 2026 engineering report shows continued progress on several major infrastructure projects that support long-term water and wastewater reliability. PFAS mitigation remains on schedule, with engineering design underway, Phase 2 pilot testing advancing, and more than $10.6 million in state-approved funding identified for the treatment effort. The I-85 Sewer Improvement Program also remains active, with CP#1 moving forward and CP#2 continuing on the Southern Interceptor. At the water treatment plant, filter media replacement is progressing toward spring 2026 completion, with the first three filters back in service and the remaining work scheduled through April and early May. In Creedmoor, SGWASA’s water meter replacement program is also moving forward on schedule toward its July 1, 2026 completion target.
Additional system improvement work is also underway across the utility. SGWASA remains compliant with Lead and Copper Rule requirements, with annual notices completed and service-line identification efforts continuing through a pilot program. Water and wastewater infrastructure assessment projects funded through AIA grants remain on track for final reports by May 1, 2026, while broader water quality improvement work continues through modeling, booster station assessment, and control system evaluation. The water valve replacement project has completed design and is expected to move to public bidding, and the water treatment master plan grant project is now underway as SGWASA continues planning for future plant needs.
