Construction on the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project (I-85 SSI) is advancing as crews begin 24-hour tunneling operations associated with the railroad bore, beginning September 14, 2026.

Repairs to the water main near East C Street and 20th Street have been completed using a 12-inch wraparound repair clamp. Water service remained available throughout the repair, and customers did not experience an interruption.

The I-85 SSI Project is moving into the next sequence of field activity as crews transition from Railroad Avenue toward A Street and prepare for upcoming work near 8th and C streets.
