Annual System Performance Report Now Available
SGWASA’s wastewater treatment plant has a design capacity of 5.5 million gallons per day, while the collection system includes approximately 154 miles of sewer piping and 48 wastewater pumping stations. Each pumping station is equipped with standby power and a monitoring system designed to track operating conditions and generator status.

Joe Peed Road Closure and Pipeline Installation
Access along East Middleton Road will be maintained. Next week, crews will cross Joe Peed Road with the 24” gravity sewer, 8” waterline, and proposed 24” force main. Joe Peed Road will be closed between S. Durham Avenue and WB Clark Road, July 27th through July 30th, with detours in place during closure.

Valve Exercising Work Begins in Golden Pond Subdivision on May 26
During this work period, residents may see technicians opening and closing water system valves, operating fire hydrants, and conducting minor water flushing in the area. These activities are part of routine system maintenance and preparation for the upcoming unidirectional flushing program planned for the Golden Pond subdivision, in Creedmoor, NC.

I-85 SSI Project TWLA : Sewer Installation and Traffic Impacts
Over the next two weeks, I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project activity will take place along Joe Peed Road, West Middleton Drive, East Lyon Station Road, A Street, and 8th Street. Crews will advance major sewer infrastructure work, including gravity sewer installation, combined force main installation, microtunnel-related work, utility potholing, driveway crossing coordination, and controlled blasting operations.

SGWASA Remains on Target with PFAS Mitigation Plans
Butner, NC - On May 18, 2026, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed maintaining the current federal drinking water standards for PFOA and PFOS while allowing eligible drinking water systems to request up to two additional years, through 2031, to meet enforceable compliance limits associated with the broader PFAS chemical class. This work is part of ongoing Construction Package 1 improvements and supports the long-term protection, durability, and performance of wastewater infrastructure serving the area.

Funding Award Confirmed to support SGWASA’s PFAS Treatment Project Construction
The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority has received a $10,658,880 SWIA funding award from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure. The award will be used for SGWASA’s PFAS mitigation water treatment facility construction project.
