Planned Water Service Interruption: West C Street and 8th Street

Update September 21, 2026:
The water service interruption scheduled for today, Monday, September 21, on West C Street between 5th Street and 8th Street and in the 200 block of 8th Street has been postponed due to contractor availability. Customers will not experience a service interruption today related to this work.
The work is being rescheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd, at 8 AM.
This work supports the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project. Crews will install a valve and remove the temporary water line crossing 8th Street to accommodate blasting and installation of a new 36-inch sewer line and manhole. The valve will allow water service to be restored while the remaining sewer construction activities are completed.
We recognize that customers may have adjusted their routines in anticipation of today’s interruption. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as the schedule is revised.
Butner, NC - Water service will be temporarily interrupted on Monday, September 21, 2026, beginning at 8:00 AM, for customers in the following areas:
West C Street between 5th Street and 8th Street
The 200 block of 8th Street
The interruption is expected to last 4 to 6 hours.
Crews will install a valve and remove the temporary water line crossing 8th Street to accommodate blasting and installation of a new 36-inch sewer line and manhole for the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project. The new valve will allow water service to be restored while the remaining sewer construction activities are completed, closures remain in place.
