SGWASA hosted the fifth monthly progress meeting for the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement (Construction Package 1). The session brought together project partners, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to review construction progress, safety measures, and scheduling updates.

The SGWASA Finance Committee held discussions on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Butner Town Hall. The meeting, chaired by Town of Butner Councilperson Vicky Daniels, brought together Finance Committee members, SGWASA leadership, and supporting staff to review critical funding, debt, and project finance matters.

Utility crews are on site responding to a water main leak on East F Street in Butner, NC. To complete necessary repairs, water service has been temporarily disconnected. This interruption will affect customers located within the Edgewood Building at Murdoch Developmental Center, a state-operated healthcare facility. Our teams are working diligently to complete repairs and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Recent routine water quality testing in the SGWASA/Creedmoor service area has identified elevated levels of iron and manganese in some locations. These minerals are naturally occurring and commonly found in groundwater, but elevated concentrations can affect the taste, color, and appearance of your water. 

As only one bid was received by the submission deadline, and per procurement requirements mandating a minimum of three bids, the team did not proceed with the formal opening.

In the next phase of the project, the contractor will perform three new waterline connections to the existing mainline along Highway 56.  The first tie-in is scheduled for 7:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This portion of the work, indicated in red on the associated map or notice, may result in a temporary drop in water pressure for some customers in the surrounding area.
