September I-85 SSI Progress Meeting

September 19, 2025. Butner, NC - SGWASA hosted the fifth monthly progress meeting for the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement (Construction Package 1). The session brought together project partners, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to review construction progress, safety measures, and scheduling updates.


Crews advanced concrete pours at both the Joe Peed and East Middleton lift stations, including wet well walls, influent channel walls, and excavation activities.




Project work has been scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the East Middleton LS site to complete preparation for the lower influent wall concrete pour planned for Monday, September 22, 2025.








CP1 - One Month Look Ahead Plans

  • Complete Joe Peed Pump Station influent channel walls to elevation 265.50

  • Form, rebar, and pour Joe Peed wet well walls to elevation 281.50

  • Begin work on Joe Peed influent channel walls to elevation 281.50

  • Complete East Middleton Lift Station elevation slab level to 302.00

  • Form, rebar, and pour East Middleton walls to elevation level of 313.75

  • Begin work on East Middleton top deck

  • Leak test lower walls at both stations and backfill to elevations in RFI 22


Schedule Updates: The JF Wilkerson scope defines the project’s critical path, with scheduling primarily influenced by procurement. Wilkerson continues to target completion of their work by December 31, 2026, maintaining alignment with overall project milestones. At the East Middleton site, the construction sequence has been refined, with the interior baffle wall now scheduled to follow completion of the top deck.
