In honor of Memorial Day, the South Granville Water & Sewer Authority (SGWASA) offices and Welcome Center will be closed on Monday, May 26th, 2026. Office operations will resume on Tuesday, May 27th, 2026. While our offices are closed, we encourage customers to join the Granville County community in honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

The FY26/27Budget reflects SGWASA’s continued focus on financial stewardship, service reliability, transparency, and organizational readiness. The budget is balanced and supports the Authority’s ability to manage rising operational costs, insurance increases, and major long-term infrastructure needs without additional customer impact.

SGWASA utility crews are scheduled to replace a fire hydrant near West C Street and 5th Street on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Crews will begin preparing the work area in advance of the work. The temporary water service interruption begins at approximately 10:00 AM.

Reports Tell the Story Behind Water Service at SGWASA

Haren Construction is scheduled to perform coating work on wastewater manholes in the East Middleton area tonight and tomorrow night. This work is part of ongoing Construction Package 1 improvements and supports the long-term protection, durability, and performance of wastewater infrastructure serving the area.

The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority joins water professionals and communities across the nation in recognizing Drinking Water Week. This annually observed information week provides an opportunity to explore the essential role safe, reliable drinking water plays in public health, quality of life, emergency readiness, economic development, and everyday community service.

Construction teams reported that the I-85 SSI Project closure near Will Suitt Road has ended, and the road has reopened for normal travel.

The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority has received a $10,658,880 SWIA funding award from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure. The award will be used for SGWASA’s PFAS mitigation water treatment facility construction project.

In March 2026, SGWASA received notice that the North Carolina State Water Infrastructure Authority approved $10,658,880 in additional funding assistance for SGWASA’s drinking water projects. The award is expected to include a combination of loan and grant funding administered through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure.

The recent SGWASA Board meeting opened with the administration of the Oath of Office for the Town of Butner Councilperson Tom Lane. The Board welcomed Councilperson Lane back as a returning member of the SGWASA Board, following years of service.

A closure on Will Suitt Road is scheduled to beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, as Construction Package 2 (CP-2) of the I-85 SSI Project progress. The closure is expected to begin that morning around 7:00 am and remain in place through the posted work period.

South Granville Water and Sewer Authority advises the public that a planned shutdown of Will Suitt Road at Longwood Drive in Creedmoor, NC is scheduled from April 27th through May 1st.

South Granville Water and Sewer Authority continues to advance major sanitary sewer improvements along the I-85 corridor, with current work moving farther west of the interstate and toward the Will Suitt Road area.
