Butner, NC - The South Granville Water and Sewer Authority continues to take a proactive approach to protecting long-term drinking water quality for southern Granville County. As federal PFAS requirements continue to move toward the full implementation deadline of April 2029. SGWASA is advancing testing, engineering design, funding coordination, and treatment planning to remain prepared for future regulatory compliance.
In March 2026, SGWASA received notice that the North Carolina State Water Infrastructure Authority approved $10,658,880 in additional funding assistance for SGWASA’s drinking water projects.
The SGWASA Board approved a $3,209,800 engineering design task order with CDM Smith, funded from program grants; and is seeking $26 million in State Revolving Fund (SRF) assistance for PFAS removal design and construction.
The award is expected to include a combination of loan and grant funding administered through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure.
The Authority is seeking additional State Revolving Fund assistance for PFAS removal design and construction as part of the broader effort to assemble the resources needed for future treatment improvements. SGWASA continues to coordinate with state funding partners to support timely implementation as the program advances toward the federal April 2029 compliance timeline.
