I-85 Sewer Project Two Week Look Ahead: Sewer Installation and Major Traffic Impact Scheduled.

6/15/26 Butner NC: During the next two weeks, I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project activity will remain active along Joe Peed Road, West Middleton Drive & Lyon Station Rd., West A Street and Central Avenue.  


Construction crews will: 


  • Continue sanitary sewer pipe installation along Joe Peed Road.

  • Continue sewer pipe installation near W. Middleton Drive & E. Lyon Station Road. 

  • Continue sewer pipe installation on W. A Street near Central Ave.

  • Set up variable message boards for the July 6, 2026 Central Ave. & A Street Road Closure.

 

CENTRAL AVE. & A. STREET CLOSURE SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JULY 6, 2026 9:00 A.M.  


  • Detour signs will be posted on local streets in Butner and on I-85. 

  • Motorists should use I-85 Exit # 191 to access Butner

  • The road closure is scheduled to take 30 days. SGWASA contractors will open the street as soon as possible during the 30-day period. 



Residents and travelers near these work areas will notice construction equipment, temporary traffic adjustments, and elevated construction activity during active work periods.
