The South Granville Water and Sewer Authority (SGWASA) announces a Pre-Bid Construction Conference for the WTP Filter Media Replacement Project, scheduled to enter construction in Fall 2025. This vital infrastructure improvement is part of SGWASA’s strategic initiatives to support the southern Granville County community with a reliable and sustainable water treatment system.

SGWASA offices will be closed on Friday, July 4th, in honor of the Independence holiday.

As only one bid was received by the submission deadline, and per procurement requirements mandating a minimum of three bids, the team did not proceed with the formal opening.

In the next phase of the project, the contractor will perform three new waterline connections to the existing mainline along Highway 56.  The first tie-in is scheduled for 7:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This portion of the work, indicated in red on the associated map or notice, may result in a temporary drop in water pressure for some customers in the surrounding area.

At the May 20th progress meeting, CDM Smith representative Bill Mason led with team updates and formally introduced Greg Hoch as the new Resident Project Representative (RPR) for Construction Package 1 (CP1) of the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project. Jackie Jackson, the initial RPR for CP1, will transition to support Construction Package 2 (CP2) as the RPR once that phase begins.

SGWASA has worked collaboratively with Enviromix over the past several years to evaluate and improve key water and wastewater treatment technologies. This partnership included a case study at the SGWASA Wastewater Treatment Plant that focused on Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR). This process has been shown to target phosphorus more efficiently.

A Tyler Technologies system update will begin at approximately 5:00 PM today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The service update will last for an approximate 2-3 hours. The customer payment portal will be temporarily unavailable during this time.

A recent Triangle Business Journal article highlighted the critical role of water and sewer infrastructure in supporting the natural rate of growth in the Southern Granville County region, featuring the progress underway in southern Granville County. SGWASA is committed to addressing these needs with the SGWASA's I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement project.

Utility crews scheduled water main repairs for Monday along East Lyon Station Road, between West Middleton Drive and Massimo Drive. The work follows a recently reported leak in the area, and timely repairs are necessary to maintain system reliability and prevent further issues.

As part of an NCDOT project on Highway 56, a contractor will be performing a water main relocation in two locations along West Lyon Station Road. This work is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, and is expected to take approximately 4 to 6 hours to complete.
