October 27, 2025. Butner, NC - Haren Construction representatives reported completing concrete and rebar installations at both the Joe Peed and East Middleton Lift Stations wet well structures. Specifically, the lower influent channel walls and the lower and upper wet well walls were completed at the Joe Peed Lift Station.

At the East Middleton Lift Station, the structure walls and the baffle wall in the pump chamber were completed, and work is ongoing for the top deck. Structures at both sites have been preliminarily tightness tested.

JF Wilkerson mobilized for pipeline installation, installed erosion control on Joe Peed Road, and began receiving and staging piping and manhole shipments.

For the next 30 days, Haren plans to continue forming and pouring the lift station structures. They will begin forming the top deck at the Joe Peed and expect it to be ready for pouring within a month. At the East Middleton Lift Station, they will finish forming and pouring the top deck, after which they will start filling the structure for water tightness testing and then begin backfilling.

JF Wilkerson plans to begin laying the influent gravity sewer from the new to the existing Joe Peed LS. Deliveries for the force main material are currently planned to start the first week of November.

CP1 - One Month Look Ahead Plans

  • The Haren Construction team plans to prioritize working on the forming and pouring of the lift station structures.

  • Plans are in place to begin forming of the top deck for the Joe Peed Lift Station. Crews will finish pouring the upper wall of the influent channel.

  • At the East Middleton Lift Station, the teams will continue working on grinding and patching of the lift station structure.

  • Pouring plans are still in progress for the top deck of the East Middleton Lift Station. Once the top deck is poured, Haren will plan to start filling the structure for the water tightness testing.

  • Piping will begin outside of the wet well and then a portion of the upstream gravity sewer.

  • CDM Smith noted that when Haren pours the top slab they will request a full 3-day break on the concrete testing before pulling the shoring and supports.

Regarding coordination, the Wake Electric power easement for the Joe Peed Lift Station was approved, and Haren is working on getting a temporary step-down transformer installed for construction. JF Wilkerson confirmed that auto-flaggers are on site and working, with limited road shutdowns expected on Joe Peed Road.

All items noted during the NCDEQ Erosion and Sediment Control site inspection have been rectified. The Joe Peed building permit was received on October 21st and will be posted on site.
