Penny Shortage Update

Butner, NC. March 3, 2026 - SGWASA is currently experiencing a temporary operational impact related to a local penny shortage. Local banking partners have not been able to supply pennies at this time, which means SGWASA is unable to provide exact change for cash transactions at the point of payment.
Until this issue is resolved, customers who pay with cash must provide exact change, or they may choose to pay slightly more than the billed amount. Any overpayment will be applied as a credit to the customer’s account and reflected on a future bill.
SGWASA appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this temporary supply issue is addressed. Customers who prefer not to pay with cash may use SGWASA’s available non-cash payment options where applicable.
