Winter Weather and Your Water Service
Our utility crews monitor conditions and respond to repairs as safely and efficiently as possible. As winter weather settles in, utility teams often face heightened challenges, including water main breaks and disruptions to critical systems. Periods of cold temperatures and rapid weather shifts can increase the number of repair calls across the region.

January 2026 Board Meeting
SGWASA remains focused on proactive, data-driven improvements that protect water quality, strengthen system reliability, and position the Authority to meet evolving regulatory expectations. During the most recent Board meeting, several active water-quality initiatives were reviewed, including PFAS treatment planning, treatment plant filter improvements, and targeted distribution system flushing strategies.

Creedmoor - Water Meter Replacement Program
The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority is partnering with Vanguard Utility Service Inc. to complete a systemwide meter replacement initiative within the City of Creedmoor. This multi-phase project is expected to take approximately eight months and will replace older-style water meters at eligible service locations.
The project is scheduled to begin January 20th – 23rd , daily during the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Ferbow Street in Creedmoor, NC.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing
South Granville Water & Sewer Authority will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Normal business operations will resume on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 during normal business hours.
We invite residents to participate in the community events being held throughout Granville County to honor the legacy of Dr. King. Several are listed below.

100 Block of Cozart Street - Leak Assessment Underway
SGWASA has received a report of a possible wastewater leak in the Lyon Street area of Creedmoor. Utility teams are currently assessing site conditions to better understand the leak parameters, identify the likely point of origination, and evaluate the overall condition of the line and surrounding area.

Travel Advisory: Increased Construction Traffic

January 8, 2026 - The I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project continues to move forward, and crews are in progress of kicking of Construction Package 2 of the project, and are preparing for the next phase of installation work. The South Granville Water and Sewer Authority is responding to report of a water main break at the 200 block of East Church Street in Creedmoor, North Carolina. Utility crews are actively working to assess the situation and complete necessary repairs.

A water main break has been reported on C Street near 8th Street in Butner, North Carolina. SGWASA crews are on site assessing the extent of the damage and determining the repairs needed to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.

Welcome Center Closing

November 2025 Board Meeting
SGWASA has successfully secured $41 million in grant funding, with an additional $83.5 million in applications under review for current projects. The Authority is taking a proactive approach in pursuing external funding to reduce ratepayer impact and advance system improvements.

$500,000 Awarded for PFAS Pilot Evaluation and Engineering Design
The State Water Infrastructure Authority has approved SGWASA’s most recent $500,000 funding request, bringing the total project award to $1,000,000 over the past year through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund – Emerging Contaminants (DWSRF-EC) program.
