Butner, NC. April 2, 2026 - As SGWASA continues following progress on the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project, steady activity has been reported across both CP-1 and CP-2. Along the CP-1 corridor, crews are expected to continue force main installation and utility coordination on East and West Middleton Drive, with JF Wilkerson advancing the 16-inch force main from the East Middleton Lift Station toward East Lyon Station Road while additional work continues on the 24-inch combined force main and utility potholing along West Middleton Drive.

Traffic control measures are expected to remain in place in both areas, including flagging operations and coordination of driveway crossings as needed to support equipment movement and material placement while maintaining residential access. Anticipated service impacts remain minimal and are primarily associated with driveway crossings and utility verification activities. Neither Haren and JF Wilkerson will not be working on Good Friday, April 3, 2026.

Installation of the temporary bypass piping system, installation of pipe and manholes from the outfall to D Street, rock blasting along 8th Street prior to the Enbridge stop work order, and continued work related to the micro tunnel re-submittal are the focus of work in progress. Coordination with Enbridge Gas is pivotal for project planning in motion. Teams continue to prioritize pipe and manhole installation through D Street and toward 8th Street, testing newly installed pipe and removing the temporary bypass system- once testing is complete. If the stop work order remains in place, the contractor may shift activity to another area of the alignment to help maintain progress.

Carolina Drilling is expected to relocate to the micro tunnel receiving pit to begin blasting, coordination continues among SGWASA, Park Construction, CDM Smith, and subcontractors.
