Update 7:40 AM The NCDOT water main relocation project along HWY 56 and West Lyon Station Road was completed this morning.

All services have now been fully restored, and normal operations have resumed. Crews are currently flushing several hydrants in preparation for water quality sampling later today.

Update June 3, 2025 at 7:15 AM The North Carolina Department of Transportation is currently working to complete the final connection to the water main system. At this time, service restoration is anticipated within the next 90 minutes. There is a possibility that water flow may resume within the next hour. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Update May 27, 2025 at 9:30 AM

Due to inclement weather, the work scheduled for today by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) near HWY 56 has been postponed. As a result, there will be a delay to the previously communicated schedule for this portion of the project.

SGWASA is actively coordinating with NCDOT and other partners to minimize impacts and maintain transparency throughout the project timeline.

Current Service Schedule: Monday, June 2, 2025

  • 7:30 AM: No outages anticipated. Some customers may experience low water pressure.

  • 10:00 PM: A planned water outage is expected to begin, lasting approximately 4–6 hours. This will impact areas near HWY 56 and West Lyon Station.

If the June 2nd date and service repair times are impacted by unforeseen circumstances, the work will be tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, following the same schedule and expected service interruptions. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust the schedule in response to weather-related delays.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Also on March 27th, beginning at 10:00 PM, the contractor will carry out the remaining two connections, marked in blue on the map above. This will require a temporary water service shutoff for approximately 4 to 6 hours.

The area affected during this phase will include West Lyon Station Road and Highway 56, from the railroad tracks to I-85. Water service is expected to be fully restored by 7:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as these important improvements progress.
