For CP1, Crew 1 will continue potholing existing utilities as needed and installing the 16-inch force main from the East Middleton Lift Station toward East Lyon Station Road. Crew 2 will continue 24-inch gravity sewer installation on March 16 and March 17 before temporarily moving offsite for emergency work, with next week’s Crew 2 activities still to be determined. Traffic impacts may include flagging operations on East Middleton Drive, driveway crossing coordination with property owners, and lane closures on Will Suitt Road and West Middleton Drive as needed for equipment access, pipe installation, and material deliveries. Planned service impacts remain limited to driveway crossings along East Middleton Drive.
For CP2, crews will continue material deliveries, install pipe across West D Street, stabilize the ground after trench backfilling, remove the bypass pipe, and complete pre-blast surveys around the microtunnel receiving pit. Carolina Drilling is scheduled to move into the receiving pit area at I-85, and blasting is anticipated at the microtunnel receiving pit, while blasting on 8th Street remains on hold until further notice. Short-term traffic control will be used during deliveries and construction activity near 8th Street, D Street, and Will Suitt Road. Sewer service impacts are expected to be minimal during pipeline installation, gas service impacts from blasting are expected to remain minimal this week, and while water service impacts are possible during blasting, repair materials are on site for rapid response.

Traffic control measures, including lane closures and flagging operations, may be used as needed along East Middleton Drive, West Middleton Drive, Will Suitt Road, East Lyon Station Road, and Joe Peed Road to support safe construction access and material delivery. Driveway crossing work is also planned along East Middleton Drive.
CP-2
Construction activity in CP-2 will continue with ongoing FRP pipe deliveries, appurtenance deliveries, pipe installation across West D Street, trench backfill, and ground stabilization. Blasting operations associated with the microtunnel receiving pit are expected to continue as conditions allow, while blasting on 8th Street remains on hold until further notice. Pre-blast survey notifications also remain on hold at this time.
Traffic impacts in CP-2 may continue along A Street, West A Street, West B Street, 11th Street, West C Street, 8th Street, and Will Suitt Road as material deliveries and construction operations progress. Traffic control will be implemented during deliveries, with short-term impacts expected while trucks and crews are actively on site. Road closures remain in place on 8th Street and D Street.
Minimal impacts are anticipated during pipeline installation, and amidst blasting activities. There remains potential for limited water service impacts related to blasting; however, materials are on site to support rapid repair if needed.

Recent snow caused only minor delays. Park plans to use the A Street staging area. Teams addressed concerns surrounding the pre-blast survey activity.
NCDOT coordination is ongoing, including follow-up on closure restrictions. CDM Smith provided a draft approach to apply the value engineering credit through adjusted unit prices on payment applications, which Park is reviewing.
Near-term work includes continued material deliveries (pipe and manholes in place up to 11th Street within LODs), erosion control completion, access road finalization on both sides of Interstate 85, and finishing the microtunnel pad area; remaining pipe deliveries are estimated at four to six weeks out, and PVC pipe/couplings are estimated at two to four weeks out.
Bypass prep is anticipated the week of 2/16 or 2/23, with bypass pipe and pumps to be delivered and assembly to begin. Park will submit a vibration control plan for the Newton area, has notified blasters, is coordinating the Armorock manhole submittal, and is awaiting the microtunnel submittal being prepared by Finch Engineering. CCTV of residential areas is planned to begin the week of February 9th.
Traffic control will be used for deliveries with minimal short-term impacts (including C Street), no service impacts are expected at this time, and impacts may begin in two to three weeks.

Over the coming weeks, CP2 activities will shift from primarily staging and preparation into a more active construction-readiness phase. The focus will be on completing remaining site controls, finishing access improvements, receiving final materials, and beginning early pre-construction field steps that support upcoming installation work.
Continue material deliveries and staging: Pipe and manholes are already on site for the alignment up to 11th Street, with materials stored within established Limits of Disturbance (LODs). Remaining pipe deliveries are anticipated in approximately 4–6 weeks.
Erosion and sediment controls will be completed to support ongoing field activity and protect the work area.
Plans are in progress to complete access road improvements. Crews will continue finalizing access roads on both sides of I-85 to support safe movement of equipment and materials.
PVC pipe and coupling deliveries are anticipated in approximately 2–4 weeks.
Pre-blast surveys will begin as an early step to document conditions ahead of any blasting-related activities (as applicable).
Short-duration traffic control will be used during delivery periods, with minimal disturbance expected outside the time trucks are actively on site.
Anticipated impacted roadway on C Street for deliveries.
Work hours temporarily modified to 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Haren will continue excavation and shoring at the Joe Peed LS site, aiming to complete or nearly complete work within the next month. At the East Middleton LS, drilling and prep for blasting will continue, with blasting expected to begin within a day or two. Pit boxes will be installed to cover the top 9 feet of the excavation before digging resumes. GSI will alternate drilling operations between the Joe Peed and East Middleton LS sites. Haren emphasized that timely return of rebar, formwork, and concrete mix submittals would help expedite construction. They noted that reviewing only the rebar for the LS sites would be acceptable to speed up the process, and clarified that formwork shop drawings were omitted as they are using pre-engineered forms. Wilkerson stated they plan to begin ordering materials next month following the release of the shop drawings.
