Crews will continue force main and gravity sewer installation near the Joe Peed Road lift station, including work on the 20-inch force main and the 24-inch gravity sewer line. Additional work will continue along West Middleton Drive, where crews are installing the 24-inch combined force main, potholing existing utilities, and coordinating driveway crossings as construction progresses toward East Lyon Station Road.
Park Construction has relocated equipment from Will Suitt Road to the microtunnel access road and has begun pipe installation near the microtunnel launching pit. Crews will continue working from the launching pit back toward the railroad corridor and the Wilkins gravity sewer work area. Park Construction is also coordinating delivery of restrained fiberglass reinforced pipe materials and may adjust construction sequencing near the gas transmission main if materials are not delivered in time. Carolina Drilling is expected to continue controlled blasting activities on A Street, and blasting has also begun on West A Street.
Traffic impacts are expected in active work zones. Flagging operations will occur as needed on Joe Peed Road and West Middleton Drive to support equipment movement, material delivery, potholing, and driveway crossing work. Additional traffic impacts include a planned partial closure on 8th Street and a planned full closure on A Street. No water or sewer service interruptions are anticipated at this time. SGWASA appreciates the community’s continued patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project moves forward.
