From strategic investments in fleet modernization to groundbreaking progress in water quality initiatives, the August 2025 SGWASA Board of Directors meeting was packed with decisions shaping the future of our community’s water and sewer services. In just one session, the Board advanced projects that improve field operations, strengthen fiscal safeguards, and protect public health for years to come.

  • Fleet Upgrades – Modernizing Operations:

    • Engineering Department: Approved purchase of a 2026 Ram 1500 Crew Cab to replace a 15-year-old Ford Explorer with recurring electrical issues.

    • Utilities Department: Approved two 2026 Ford F350 service trucks with cranes for pump and heavy part handling; current trucks reassigned to hydrant and valve maintenance.

    • Wastewater Treatment: Approved purchase of a 2025 Ford Ranger to replace a 17-year-old vehicle in fair condition.

    • Impact: Improved efficiency, safety, and field readiness for essential service crews.


  • ARPA Funds – Internal Control Policy Adopted: Comprehensive policy to ensure compliance with federal requirements, strengthen financial safeguards, and maintain transparency in the use of American Rescue Plan Act funding.


  • Water Quality Investment – Filter Media Replacement: $987,528 contract awarded to replace water treatment plant filter media more than 20 year old, enhancing filtration and meeting water quality standards.


  • Budget Amendments #2 & #3: Funding adjustments to continue ongoing projects, repair critical equipment, and cover the cost of the filter media replacement from operating reserves.


  • PFAS Pilot Study Update – Summer 2025: Positive results from all tested treatment media, with recommendations to extend the pilot and design a flexible system to adapt to evolving regulations.
