The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority (SGWASA) recently conducted a site tour to provide stakeholders with an overview of each site's operational well-being.
The tour offered a view of SGWASA site landmarks, offering participants the opportunity to explore key facilities, monitor current site conditions, review upgrades, and gain an informed perspective on ongoing projects that will shape SGWASA's future.
Tour Stops
1 - Lake Holt
Lake HoltĀ is a vital natural water resource for this region,Ā serving as a primary source of raw water for the South Granville Water & Sewer Authority.Ā At Lake Holt, participants discussed Lake Holt's history and the water treatment process, from source water intake to distribution. The tour highlighted ongoing improvements to the treatment plant's infrastructure, designed to enhance water quality and reliability.
2 - Water Plant

SGWASA's Board members discussed site maintenance plans and current treatment processes.
Recent plant upgrades were highlighted along the tour, including the installation of advanced technology to improve treatment efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
3 - Wastewater Treatment Plant

At the wastewater treatment facility, participants learned more about the advanced technology used to clean and treat wastewater before it is safely returned to the environment.
SGWASA replaced its jet mixing systems in the anaerobic and anoxic selectors with BioMixĀ® Compressed Gas Mixing.Ā This technology uses programmed bursts of compressed air to efficiently mix tank contents,Ā reducing energy consumption by 75% compared to jet mixing.Ā BioMix nozzles were also integrated with fine bubble aeration in the post-anoxic zones,Ā further reducing energy use.
Strategic Planning Process
The site tour was a valuable step in the strategic planning process.Ā By gaining a deeper understanding of SGWASA's operational status, areas of opportunity and strengths,Ā stakeholders will be equipped to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses the updated needs of the community and ensures the long-term sustainability of the Authority.
As SGWASA moves forward with its strategic planning process,Ā it will continue to prioritize the needs of its community and invest in the infrastructure necessary to deliver reliable and efficient services.
