August 19, 2025. Butner, NC - The I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement (SSI) Project continues to advance steadily, with Construction Package #1 remaining on schedule to conclude by October 27, 2027. As crews work diligently toward this milestone, the monthly progress meeting provided opportunity for coordination, technical updates, and strategic planning. (Click here to download the audio file.)
Slowed, but not delayed, heavy downpours from last week’s rain systems caused flooding and the need for several minor repairs at the construction sites.

Updates were provided on temporary water and electricity services established at construction areas, critical to keeping operations moving smoothly. These discussions also laid the groundwork for the transition to permanent power connections at both the Joe Peed Lift Station and East Middleton Lift Station.
NC DOT encroachments are in process to support powering the new Joe Peed site.
