Update February 27: Blasting for the I-85 SSI Project will resume on Monday, March 2. Additional details will be provided Monday morning.
Update February 26: Blasting procedures have been postponed for today due to weather conditions. Additional updates will be provided soon.
Beginning February 23, 2026, the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement (SSI) Project contractor will begin daily blasting activities in the 8th Street construction area. Blasting is anticipated to occur between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and is weather-dependent and subject to Fire Marshal availability.
South Granville Water and Sewer Authority customers will soon begin receiving regular alerts from contractors regarding daily construction activities and relevant project updates. Residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for alerts to stay informed and receive direct updates as they are released.
Detour Information and Road Closure
8th Street between D Street and C Street will be closed Monday, February 23, 2026 to support blasting operations. Once blasting is complete, crews will re-open the roadway to local traffic.
The detour plan shown above will be in effect Monday, February 23rd through Friday, February 27th; and this will be a full closure to all through traffic. Please follow all posted detour signs and use caution while traveling near the work zone.
Resident access on 8th Street will be maintained throughout construction. For safety, please follow directions from construction personnel in the work area.
