Butner, NC - Rain and saturated site conditions have affected construction activity across the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project for July 23rd, 2026. Crews initially remained on standby while evaluating whether work could safely resume; however, pipe-laying and other active construction operations have since been called off for the remainder of the day.

Under Contract Package 1, Haren’s pipe-laying activities have been suspended. Haren subcontractors are continuing work inside the Joe Peed Pump Station building, including HVAC and electrical activities.

Under Contract Package 2, active construction has also been called off for the day. Young Construction has a limited crew onsite to maintain and monitor the sump pit within the excavation area.

Construction activities will resume as weather and site conditions allow. For ongoing project information and construction updates, visit sgwasa.org/i85, the official project page.
