Central Avenue Detour Plan

July 6, 2026. Butner, NC - The I-85 SSI Project - Central Avenue closure begins today, Monday, July 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM and will support ongoing sewer improvement work in the area. The closure is scheduled for up to 30 days; however, SGWASA contractors will reopen the street as soon as possible during that period.
Detour signs will be posted on local streets in the project area and along I-85 to help guide motorists. Drivers are advised to use I-85 Exit 191 to access the Town of Butner during the closure.
Customers, residents, and motorists near the work area should expect temporary traffic adjustments, construction equipment, and increased activity near Central Avenue and A Street.
SGWASA appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure work continues.
