6/16/26 Butner, NC - I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project Update
The I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project is advancing significantly, with heightened construction activities planned for the coming weeks in various high-traffic locations in Butner, NC.
🚧 Important Travel Notice Starting 6/22/26
The installation of the new sanitary sewer pipe on W. Middleton Dr. has been finished. The contractor will now proceed with installing new sewer pipe from W. Middleton Dr. across E. Lyon Station Rd., and then continue north across E. Middleton Dr. This phase of the work is expected to take a few weeks to complete.
The installation of pipes across the streets will necessitate temporary one-lane closures while the crews work. Traffic control measures will be in place, and drivers should expect brief delays, reduced travel speeds, and active construction in the vicinity of East Lyon Station Road and West Middleton Drive.
Currently, there are no expected interruptions to water or sewer services.
