FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Butner, NC. October 6, 2025 - The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority (SGWASA) is proud to announce the receipt of another significant funding award from the North Carolina Division of Water Infrastructure (NCDWI) in support of our PFAS Pilot Evaluation and Planning Study & Engineering Design.

The State Water Infrastructure Authority has approved SGWASA’s most recent $500,000 funding request, bringing the total project award to $1,000,000 over the past year through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund – Emerging Contaminants (DWSRF-EC) program.

The new award is structured as a 100% forgivable loan, meaning SGWASA will not be required to repay any portion of the funding. The Authority will be responsible only for a 2% mandatory fee as part of the program’s administrative requirements.

This award strengthens SGWASA’s proactive efforts to evaluate and design advanced treatment technologies to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in our water system. These efforts align with SGWASA’s mission to protect public health, enhance water quality, and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory standards.

Key Project Milestones:

Scope of Work Submittal

“This award represents another major step forward in SGWASA’s commitment to water quality and environmental stewardship. By continuing to secure external funding and advance engineering design, SGWASA remains at the forefront of ensuring safe and sustainable drinking water for our customers and community”, said Executive Director Scott Schroyer.
