I-85 SSI Project
The South Granville Water & Sewer Authority partnered with engineering experts CDM Smith to conduct the I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project.
This project will replace aging materials to maintain an infrastructure that meets Granville County’s present and forthcoming capacity demands.
Two Week Look Ahead
5/5/26, 6:26 PM
Over the next two weeks, crews will continue gravity sewer work, force main installation, utility potholing, site grading, wastewater manhole coating, microtunnel access preparation, pipe installation, and controlled blasting activities. This work remains focused on strengthening wastewater system reliability, improving long-term service capacity, and supporting essential public infrastructure in the South Granville service area.
Construction Package 1 work will continue in the East Middleton, West Middleton, and Joe Peed areas, including gravity sewer work at the East Middleton Lift Station, force main installation along West Middleton Drive, and upcoming 20-inch force main work at the Joe Peed site.
Construction Package 2 work will continue near Will Suitt Road, the microtunnel access road, the launching pit, the railroad crossing area, 8th Street, and A Street. Park Construction is expected to complete relocation from Will Suitt Road to the microtunnel access road and begin installing pipe from the launching pit toward the railroad.
Carolina Drilling is expected to continue controlled blasting from the launching pit toward the railroad crossing before shifting toward A Street, including West A Street.
Please be advised that noise disruptions may occur during the blasting and construction activities. Work may begin as early as 7:00 AM. Traffic impacts should be expected on multiple streets within the construction area, primarily associated with deliveries, blasting activity, and excavation operations with work ending at 10:00 PM.
