SGWASA maintains approximately 6,600 water meters throughout its service area, including nearly 2,200 in the City of Creedmoor. To modernize aging infrastructure and improve metering accuracy, the Authority initiated a comprehensive meter replacement program focused on the Creedmoor service area.
The initiative, identified as Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Project #102-05, represents a $1 million investment in water system modernization. SGWASA contracted a specialized service provider to replace aging meters with updated technology designed to support accurate water consumption measurement and reliable customer billing.
Installation began in January 2026, with replacement activities progressing throughout the year. As of October 2026, approximately 98% of the water meters had been replaced, representing substantial progress toward completing the infrastructure upgrade.
SGWASA is coordinating with its contractor to complete the remaining installations by December 1, 2026. Upon completion, the program will provide modernized metering infrastructure throughout the Creedmoor service area, supporting improved operational efficiency, accurate consumption tracking, and dependable customer service.
