Today’s project activities include continued pipe installation at the Joe Peed site, force main work along West Middleton Drive, continued installation of 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe at the launch pit, sewer manhole coating preparation, and one scheduled controlled blast.

Active construction is advancing across the Joe Peed, West Middleton, launch pit, and Will Suitt Road project areas. This week’s activities include continued pipe installation, force main work, 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe installation, soil removal, and scheduled controlled blasting.

The I-85 SSI Project remains focused on strengthening wastewater system reliability, improving long-term service capacity, and supporting essential public infrastructure for the South Granville service area. Residents and motorists near active work zones are encouraged to remain alert, follow posted signage, and use caution around crews and equipment.

Construction work scheduled for today includes continued pipe installation at the Joe Peed site, force main work along West Middleton Drive, installation of 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe at the launch pit, soil removal from the Will Suitt Road pipe installation area, and one scheduled controlled blast.

Due to weather conditions, active field work for Construction Package 1 and Construction Package 2 is limited today. Crews will resume scheduled work as conditions allow.

SGWASA is providing this I-85 SSI Project update to keep the community informed of active construction and scheduled field activity. Today’s work includes continued pipe installation, force main work, site preparation at the Joe Peed site, equipment and material staging near the launch pit access road, 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe installation, and controlled blasting activity on West A Street near Hanes Geo.

CDM Smith provided updates to include planned evening work and developments on upcoming construction site activity. Crews are continuing pipe installation, gravity sewer line work, force main installation, site restoration, equipment staging, and preparation for specialized wastewater coating work at key project locations. These activities support the continued strengthening of wastewater system capacity, reliability, and long-term service for the surrounding area.

Progress continues across the I-85 SSI Project as crews advance pipe installation, lift station improvements, site restoration, and equipment staging activities. Today’s work includes continued construction activity at the Joe Peed site, East Middleton Lift Station, West Middleton Drive, and the I-85 bore pit area.

Construction activity will continue today across both project areas with ongoing pipe installation, gravity sewer work, landscaping, equipment mobilization, and scheduled blasting operations. In Construction Package 1, crews will remain active at the Joe Peed site and along East and West Middleton Drive. In Construction Package 2, crews will shift into site restoration and staging activities along Will Suitt Road and at the launch pit access road. Will Suitt Road is expected to reopen at the close of business today.

Construction activity will continue today across both project areas with ongoing pipeline installation, lift station area work, and scheduled blasting operations. In Construction Package 1, crews will remain active at the Joe Peed site and along East and West Middleton Drive. In Construction Package 2, crews will continue installing 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe along Will Suitt Road toward Sanitary Manhole 3058, while the current road closure remains in effect through Friday.

Project activity will continue today across both construction areas with pipeline installation, lift station area work, roadway restoration, and scheduled blasting operations. In CP1, crews will remain active at the Joe Peed site and along East and West Middleton Drive. In CP2, crews will continue installing 36-inch fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe along Will Suitt Road toward Sanitary Manhole 3058, while paving operations move forward at the road cut. The Will Suitt Road closure will remain in effect through Friday.

Project activity will continue today across both construction areas, with support operations underway at the Joe Peed site and active pipeline installation continuing near Will Suitt Road. East Middleton Drive work will focus on material hauling and site cleanup, while Construction Package 2 crews continue fiberglass reinforced polymer pipe installation and a scheduled controlled blast at the Interstate 85 bore pit. The Will Suitt Road closure will remain in effect through Friday.

In Construction Package 2, pipeline installation will advance across Will Suitt Road, one controlled blast is scheduled at the Interstate 85 bore pit, and the Will Suitt Road closure will begin today and remain in place through Friday.

One controlled blast is scheduled today at the Interstate 85 bore pit, and the planned closure of Will Suitt Road remains on track to begin Monday, April 27, at 8:30 am.

Construction activity will continue across both project areas with ongoing pipe installation in CP1 and continued pipeline work near Will Suitt Road in CP2.

Blasting operations are paused for today due to temporary access restrictions associated with railroad track work near 26th Street. Crews remain on schedule for the planned Will Suitt Road closure beginning Monday, April 27th, at 8:30 am.

Construction activity will continue across both project areas with ongoing pipe installation, a scheduled controlled blast at the Interstate 85 bore pit, and a planned traffic change on Will Suitt Road. Beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, a full closure on Will Suitt Road is scheduled to support roadway and underground utility work, with follow-up pavement restoration to continue into the next week. Friday, May 1, 2026 completion is dependent upon rock conditions and production progress, repair work.

In CP1, crews will remain active at the Joe Peed site and along East and West Middleton Drive. In CP2, crews will continue pipeline installation toward Will Suitt Road, and one controlled blast is scheduled this afternoon at the I-85 bore pit.

CP-1 pipe and force main installation activities remain underway, while CP-2 work continues with FRP installation and a revised blasting schedule that now includes one 12:00 pm microtunnel pit blast and one 11:00 am D Street hand shot.

CP-1 crews are securing materials and preparing for weather conditions ahead of upcoming installation work, while no CP-2 contractor activity is scheduled for today.

CP-1 crews are advancing valve vault preparation and force main installation along East Middleton Drive and West Middleton Drive, while CP-2 crews continue FRP sewer main installation, backfilling, and manhole invert grouting with no blasting scheduled today.

CP-1 crews are preparing for rain while force main installation continues along East Middleton Drive, and CP-2 crews will continue FRP sewer main installation, structure grouting, manhole vacuum testing, and scheduled outfall blasting at 10:00 am.

CP-1 crews continue backfill, cleanup, conduit installation, and force main work along East Middleton Drive, while CP-2 crews advance FRP sewer main installation and backfilling as scheduled, with Carolina Drilling set to blast rock in the outfall at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm outside the roadway work restriction area.

CP-1 crews are advancing lift station piping and force main installation and testing, while CP-2 crews continue FRP sewer main work, site restoration, ground-speed testing, and scheduled outfall rock blasting outside the Enbridge stop-work area.

Crews will continue force main installation in the East Middleton area, along with ongoing pump station work, conduit installation, erosion control maintenance, sewer main installation, and site restoration in CP-2.

Controlled blasting in CP-2 is scheduled for 11:00 am. and 3:00 pm.

Crews are advancing lift station construction with through-slab process piping and continuing force main installation along the East Middleton corridor. CP-2 teams are installing FRP sewer mains and restoring disturbed areas, while Carolina Drilling remains on standby pending resolution of Enbridge Gas coordination items.

CP-1 crews are continuing pump station backfilling and force main installation along East Middleton Drive, including work near the Middleton Lift Station driveway and between Stardust Lane and West Middleton Drive. CP-2 crews are continuing FRP sewer main installation, while Carolina Drilling is temporarily paused pending resolution of an Enbridge Gas coordination issue.

CP#1 crews will continue pump station backfilling, hauling fill to support East Middleton work, and advancing roofing and force main installation near the East Middleton Lift Station and Stardust Lane. CP#2 crews will continue installing FRP sewer main segments, while drilling remains paused pending resolution of an Enbridge Gas coordination issue.
