All Sites + Railroad Avenue

August 27, 2026

Please be advised that noise disruptions may occur during the blasting and construction activities. Work may begin as early as 7:00 AM. Traffic impacts should be expected on multiple streets within the construction area, primarily associated with deliveries, blasting activity, and excavation operations with work ending at 10:00 PM.

Along Joe Peed Road, crews will continue installing the 20-inch force main, testing completed sewer infrastructure, and restoring areas associated with gravity sewer construction. Motorists should expect periodic flagging and lane closures near the new Joe Peed Pump Station.

In CP-2, Park will continue installing pipe along Railroad Avenue. Crews have returned to a previously blasted rock section, and production has increased. Once the Railroad Avenue section is complete, work is expected to transition toward A Street and B Street near Hanes Geo.

Young Construction will continue microtunnel work once replacement cutting discs arrive. The timeline will depend on rock conditions encountered during installation. Microtunneling beneath I-85 is underway, with approximately 28 feet completed as of August 17th.

Controlled blasting remains on hold in certain areas pending completion of Enbridge coordination. Separately, Carolina Drilling is expected to begin controlled blasting Monday between Station 49+50 and Station 35+00, with residential access maintained during the road closure.

Preparations for the upcoming Norfolk Southern Railroad bore are also moving forward. Bore-pit excavation and shoring outside the railroad right-of-way are anticipated to begin September 7th.

Anticipated full closures include Laundry Avenue and Railroad Avenue. No partial closures are currently listed, and no planned utility service interruptions are anticipated during this reporting period.

Drivers should remain alert, follow posted traffic controls, and allow additional travel time near active construction areas.
