LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
SGWASA is a unit of local government
operating a water and wastewater system located in southern Granville
County. SGWASA has an opening for a
Laboratory Technician with a salary range of $30,172
to $44,654. The desired applicant performs a variety of chemical, biological, and
microbiological tests designed to produce safe operation of wastewater
treatment systems. Duties also include assisting the Wastewater Treatment Plant Compliance Supervisor in administering the pretreatment program for industrial users. The
employee is subject to hazards associated with wastewater and chemical work including
exposure to electrical currents, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases,
and poor ventilation. Work with
untreated wastewater also subjects the employee to the OSHA bloodborne
pathogen rules and regulations. This position is considered a safety sensitive
role. Work is performed under supervision of the Wastewater
Treatment Plant Compliance Supervisor and is reviewed through
conferences and for conformance to sampling, testing, and reporting procedures
and accuracy. Work requires knowledge of Federal and State laws, rules, and
regulations regarding the treatment and testing of wastewater systems. The
employee is expected to maintain the required standards for operation of a
State approved laboratory. Desired education and experience would be graduation
from high school supplemented by some college level course work in chemistry,
biology, environmental science, or related field and laboratory experience or
treatment plant operations experience; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR I /OPERATOR TRAINEE
SOUTH GRANVILLE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY (SGWASA)
SGWASA is a unit
of local government operating a water and sewer system located in southern
Granville County. SGWASA has an opening
for a Waste Water Treatment Operator/Operator Trainee. Salary range for an
Operator I is $30,172 to $44,654. The starting salary for an
Operator trainee is $28,663. The desired
applicant will operate the treatment plant on their assigned shift. Work involves performing routine laboratory
test, performing routine maintenance, monitoring the wastewater system and
making adjustments to pumps to ensure that water quality and water quantity
complies with rules and regulations as set forth by SGWASA, the State and EPA. Desired education and experience would be graduation from high school with some course work
in chemistry, biology, or course work related to wastewater treatment and some
experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Possession of a Grade I Waste Water treatment operator's certificate
from the State of
